Evaluation of magazine

1.) I chose a black white and grey colour scheme in the end the same as in my planning as i belive it made the magazine seem serious and appeal better to the 16-19 target audience. I believe the title also was relevant for the demographic as well as the gradient effect making it look smart. I spent a large majority of my time picking a font and title that i felt would fit the image i wanted the magazine to have, for next time i would try to tighten up the speed in which i picked them.

2.)I decided to make my subheading about 6th form as that is the main idea of what the magazine is about and using numbers such as '20 easy tips' is effective in drawing in the audience. And is also relevant for what the magazine is about. I think i was effiecient at doing this.

3.)I used the main themes that i wished the magazine to encompass as side headings such as cars music and 6th form. I think that given the colour scheme they stand out very effectivley especially given the green background I also decided to change the font to bold instead of italic for the actual text beneath the side headings to make them stand out. I wasnt as good as i should have been when it came to creating the side heading i first used bubbles to have the text in however it looked unconventional and not very nice so i changed it.

4.)I used the idea of having a vocal point to draw the reader in by making a 'Free posters' design which could be effective at drawing in people from far away or helping them justify a purchase of the magazine. I did this fairly well i think however the gradient clashes with the black outer rim.

5.)I used a barcode to make the magazine look more legitimate and real. And Also chose my background picture to be two incredibly dashing young gentleman within the target audience of 16-19 successing there academic success so it is somehting for the target reader to aspire too. Next time i think i would try and find a better backdrop in which to take the photo so perhaps a white wall would make editing easier.

6.)The heading of the issue had to be about sixth form as it helped tie in to the picture using words such as 'Exclusive' would make the reader feel special that they could buy a magazine with information that no other magazine would have. I also chose this heading as its fairly vague and open to interpretaion as to what this 'survival guide' consists of.

Overall i was fairly happy with the outcome of the project my planning stage perhaps was not as good as it should have been and  believe i should have spent a bit more time which would have made the actual design portion of the project run a lot smoother when picking out how to create the front cover.
